Austin Police identify teen killed in early August crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department released the name of the victim killed in a single vehicle crash back in early August.

Authorities said the crash took place in the 6800 block of Hart Lane on Aug. 7 at 2:36 a.m. The incident caused the death of 16-year-old Andrew Reyes. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on Aug. 8.

Austin Police said the driver and two other passengers of the car left the scene.

APD said the crash is being investigated as Austin’s 50th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 53 fatalities for the year so far.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that can help lead to an arrest, according to APD.
