Worcester wants residents to design city's election day stickers

All submissions are due Sept. 1 and the winner will be chosen by social media vote on Sept. 8.

Worcester residents can submit designs for their very own election day sticker, the city’s Cultural Development Division and Election Commission announced Monday.

The campaign, called “Create the Vote,” lets residents submit up to three designs via an online application.

All submissions must be sent by Sept 1, the commission said. After that, finalist designs will be put to a vote on official social platforms. Social media voting will close on Sept. 8 to ensure the winning sticker can be printed and sent out on time. The creator behind the winning sticker will receive a $300 prize, the commission announced.

Designers must include the phrase “My vote counts” somewhere in the design and are encouraged to submit their designs in languages other than English.

“After the tremendous success of our 2020 Create the Vote public campaign, which distributed over 55,000 stickers featuring designs by eight local artists, we are thrilled to partner with the Election Commission again to reactivate this creative voter engagement initiative,” said Assistant Cultural Development Officer Yaffa Fain.

The stickers will be available for both in-person voters and mail-in voters. The statement said more than 16,000 Worcester residents are registered to vote by mail.
