US

A Pomona man is behind bars after a domestic argument with his ex-girlfriend turned into a kidnapping last month, authorities said.

41-year-old Daniel Santibanez was arrested Aug. 5 on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, making terrorist threats and domestic violence, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

On July 19, he and his ex-girlfriend, whose identity was not released, had an argument in unincorporated Montclair before Santibanez “forced her into his vehicle and drove her away against her will,” the release said.

The woman ultimately escaped from the vehicle near Pico Rivera, authorities said.

Santibanez’s bail is set at $500,000, though he is also being held on a separate $150,000 bail out of Hermosa Beach, jail records show.

He’s due to appear in Rancho Superior Court on Aug. 20.
