One killed, one hospitalized in Dorchester shooting, police say

“At this time, we are still very, very early into the investigation,” Deputy Superintendent of the Boston Police Department Paul McLaughlin said.

Two people were shot, one fatally, in Dorchester on Monday night, police said.

The incident happened at 5 Trent Street around 6:36 p.m., Boston Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

McLaughlin confirmed both victims were transported to a hospital. One of the victims was pronounced dead; his identity has not been released. The other victim has what McLaughlin called “non-fatal gunshot wounds.”

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, McLaughlin said.

“At this time, we are still very, very early into the investigation,” McLaughlin said. He shared BPD is canvassing the area for any video footage of the incident or witnesses. “We are looking for any assistance from anyone in the neighborhood that was out and saw something,” he said.

There are no suspects or arrests at this time.
