I-94 shut down in Portage for major gas leak, ISP says

US

PORTAGE, Ind. — A faulty gas line in Portage, Indiana, is causing dangerous air conditions and shutting down Interstate 94 lanes.

Troopers say the delay could last for several hours.

Details remain limited but ISP said I-94 is closed in both directions (S.R. 249 and exit 22 Burns Harbor) due to a gas leak near Bass Pro Shop.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes, though ISP says the Indiana Toll Road may be the best option for commuters.
