Here's how to get free frozen yogurt this afternoon

Support local charities in Boston and enjoy a free scoop on City Hall Plaza

This afternoon you can support local charities and beat the summer heat with free frozen yogurt, courtesy of Moose Tracks.

From 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the Michigan based ice cream company is serving 10,000 free scoops of frozen yogurt as part of their annual 10,000 Scoop Challenge at City Hall Plaza.

Since 2010, Moose Tracks has gone from city to city across the U.S. giving out free scoops of ice cream and frozen yogurt to raise money for local charities. For every scoop served, $1 is donated with the hopes of reaching the $10,000 goal at the end of the event.

The Kemps Original Moose Tracks Frozen Yogurt that will be served is an “unmistakable combination of vanilla frozen yogurt with peanut butter cups and famous Moose Tracks Fudge,” according to an announcement post on Facebook.

Over the last 14 years ago, Moose Tracks has visited over 50 cities and raised more than 500,000 for various community programs.

The proceeds from today’s event in Boston will go to The Salvation Army Boston South End Corps and The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS).

Over the course of the summer, Moose Tracks has stopped in Tampa, Florida, Traverse City, MI, and Buffalo, NY, serving ice cream in partnership with Mayfield Dairy Farms, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Kemps Cows, and Country Fresh. Boston is the last stop on their tour.

Along with the free frozen yogurt, the event will have games, appearances by local celebrities, and the chance for a photo-op with mascot Tracks the Moose.
