Tom Cruise’ Huge Shoutout After Paris Olympics Stunt

US

Tom Cruise celebrated his spectacular Olympic Stadium stunt with a shoutout that has been viewed 10 million times on social media.

The Top Gun: Maverick star, 62, jumped from the roof of the Stade de France in a dramatic appearance at the closing ceremony of The Games on Sunday. H.E.R. performed on guitar during the scene after singing the American national anthem to signify the handover from Paris to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Once safely on the ground, Cruise was greeted by athletes as he made his way to the stage. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles—the most decorated gymnast in history—then handed over the Olympic flag, which he loaded onto the back of his motorcycle.

Cruise drove off into a prerecorded video that showed his journey from Paris to L.A.

“Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA,” Cruise captioned a photo of himself on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram.

At the time of publication, the post had been viewed nearly nine million times on X and more than one million times on Instagram.

People shared their reaction to his stunt in the comments.

“MISSION COMPLETE 😎, ” the 2028 Los Angeles games official account wrote on Instagram.

“How was the view from up there?🔥🥰” Stade de France’s account asked.

“Mission? Possible,” Paramount+ said via the platform, while Mission Impossible chimed in, “In true Mission fashion. #TomCruise.”

On X, Paramount Pictures shared a lengthy tribute to Cruise.

“Today’s closing ceremonies brought our world another incredible moment from Tom Cruise, one that has us looking back on many before it. No matter the mission, he’s always accepted it,” they shared in a post via X, which has racked up more than two million views.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank Tom for all that he has done for our industry and art forms as both an actor and a producer. He’s consistently strived for the utmost competence across any and all skills that will better the story and experience for the audience.”

Paramount Pictures went on to praise Cruise for his stunt work and gave a shout out to the Olympic athletes.

“To all the athletes throughout the stadium and beyond, we extend our congratulations and admiration for all that you’ve done. You embody the spirit of excellence and sportsmanship that keep the world riveted and inspired,” they said, before adding, “And Tom, we can’t wait for the world to see what we have in store next summer. See you May 23rd.”

Cruise stars in Mission: Impossible 8, which is expected to hit theaters in May 2025.

“I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve done together,” the Golden Globe Award winner said in response. “I look forward to sharing our next Mission!”

Throughout the Paris Games, Cruise attended several events including swimming and gymnastics as well as women’s soccer—where he witnessed Team USA win gold against Brazil.

“It’s awesome,” the actor told Reuters in July. “Great stories, great athletes. It’s incredible what they do.”

Cruise has long been a fan of the Olympics, carrying the Olympic torch in Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium in 2004 as it made its way to Athens.
