Excavator Driver’s Sweet Gesture for Little Boy Melts Hearts

US

A heavy machine operator had an unexpected visitor interrupt his job in the cutest way earlier this month.

Nanny Jordan Kuhn shared what happened on TikTok, and the clip has since clocked up over 430,000 views.

Kuhn, who has been with the family for four years, was spending the day at the playground with two children she cares for: a one-and-a-half-year-old boy and a six-year-old boy.

As they arrived, they noticed construction work taking place near the swing set. Workers were building a sidewalk by the basketball courts, Kuhn told Newsweek.

The youngest boy, who is currently obsessed with trucks and construction machinery, was instantly mesmerized by the excavator on the site.

Kuhn told Newsweek that he immediately pointed to his shirt—which coincidentally featured a picture of an excavator—and said “same” as he watched the machine in action.

The trio went to get a closer look, and the little boy was fascinated.

“He continued to point back at his shirt when the man noticed and shut it off,” the 27-year-old recalled.

Seeing the little boy’s reaction, the excavator operator stepped out of his machine and invited the boy to come closer for a special photo opportunity.

“I thought [that] was super sweet,” Kuhn told Newsweek. She added that the older child she nannies even played photographer for the moment.

“We snapped a quick [picture] and went on our way. I feel like both days were made between the boy I nanny and the worker,” she said.

The video, captured in Broad Heights View, Ohio, has gained hundreds of comments since it was posted on August 2. Many comments were left by social media users in the same line of work as the kind operator.

“As a blue-collar guy with a boy who loves trucks and equipment, I always make time to let the kids honk the air horns when they’re around,” one TikTok user commented.

Another operator, who goes by @jimmyjam1989 on TikTok, wrote that they love kids’ reactions to their diggers: “We were once the small child dreaming of playing in those machines,” they said.

Kuhn, who has been a nanny for 6 years, captioned the video: Oh the little things, and it seems like the internet agrees.

“That’s what it’s all about. That was me when I was a kid, now that’s me in the machine. Never stop dreaming,” user @daltonford25 commented.
