Chicago firefighter critically injured in crash while riding motorcycle

CHICAGO – A Chicago firefighter was critically injured in a crash Friday morning while riding a motorcycle.

Chicago police said the firefighter, identified by family members as 26-year-old Mason Maj, was riding a motorcycle in the 6400 block of W. Addison Avenue when he rear-ended a Nissan.

Maj suffered serious injuries to his leg, as well as head trauma, according to police. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

Maj’s family told WGN he recently just got engaged and has a long road to recovery. At last check, Maj is in critical but stable condition.

A GoFundMe has been created to help with medical expenses.
