Aaron Judge moves closer to MLB history with 299th home run

Aaron Judge is closing in on 300.

The Yankees slugger hit the 299th home run of his career on Sunday, putting him on the doorstep of MLB history.

The solo shot in the seventh inning of the Yankees’ 8-7 over the Texas Rangers came in Judge’s 952nd career game. Ralph Kiner holds the record for the fewest games to 300 homers with 1,087.

Judge finished Sunday with 3,420 career at-bats. Babe Ruth needed the fewest at-bats to reach 300 home runs with 3,830.

Now in his ninth MLB season, Judge leads the majors with 42 home runs and 106 RBI.

On Sunday, he went 3-for-3 with two runs and an intentional walk. The bottom of the eighth inning ended with Judge on deck, and the Yankees did not bat in the ninth.
