Five people died in separate shootings during “one of the most violent weekends we’ve ever had in Commerce City,” police officials said Sunday.

A man who was “critically wounded” in a double shooting in a 7-Eleven parking lot near 104th Avenue and U.S. 85 on Friday night died Saturday, police said in a post on X. The woman injured in the shooting is still in critical condition.

Officers identified a man driving the black Dodge pickup truck believed to be involved in the shooting and tried to contact him, but he fled from police. He was found dead as a result of suicide Sunday morning, Commerce City police said in a post on Facebook.

Another shooting was reported around 5 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Pioneer Park near 5950 Holly St., according to police officials. A man was found dead at the scene, and police detained a “person of interest” in the shooting.

The shooting was contained to the parking lot and did not “spill over” into the nearby Paradice Island Pool or park, officials said.

Police responded to another shooting overnight Saturday after gunfire-detection technology picked up shots fired near Monaco Street and East 65th Place.

A vehicle tried to flee the scene and later crashed in Aurora, police said Sunday morning. A passenger with a gunshot wound was found dead, and a second person was later found dead in the yard of a home.
