16-year-old boy injured near Bud Billiken Parade

A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon on the city’s South Side near the Bud Billiken Parade.

The boy was involved in a verbal altercation with a man in the 4400 block of South King Drive, police said. Around 1:05 p.m., the man pulled out a gun and fired shots at the teen, who sustained a graze wound to his head.

He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was initially listed in good condition, police said. 

A person of interest was taken into custody, and police said two guns were recovered at the scene. Detectives are investigating, police said.
