YORKVILLE, Ill. — An Elk Grove Village man who exposed himself and recorded videos of children at a suburban water park has been handed a seven-year prison sentence.

39-year-old Andrew Pusateri, who agreed to a plea deal earlier this week, was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and child pornography, Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced Friday.

According to prosecutors, in July of 2023, Pusateri was caught by lifeguards at Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville, exposing himself while lying in a raft in the lazy river.

Yorkville detectives got involved and found that Pusateri had used a handheld camera and recorded videos of minors who were in the lazy river.

Prosecutors said that some of the videos showed Pusateri exposing himself, while others showed him touching young children’s feet with his hands and genitals.

Yorkville detectives were able to find surveillance videos from the park and ticket records that helped them identify individuals who had been victimized by Pusateri.

During the investigation, prosecutors said it was found that Pusateri had visited water parks on several occasions and made similar videos at a water park in Elk Grove Village.

“Predators such as Pusateri are a threat to our children. I want to commend the efforts of the staff at Raging Waves as well as the detectives from the Yorkville Police Department for helping to catch this offender and lock him up for years to come. My hope is that Pusateri and others that try to prey on our children learn that prison awaits you if you try it in Kendall County.”  Weis said.

Pusateri’s sentence was handed down by Judge Jody Gleason.
