Authorities have identified an Arlington Heights man as the person who died after being struck by a car while trying to walk across Route 12 near Wauconda late Wednesday, Lake County officials said.

Pablo Campuzano-Reynoso, 39, died from blunt-force injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, which conducted an autopsy Thursday.

Lake County sheriff’s investigators were called to Route 12 and Old Rand Road at about 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

A 68-year-old McHenry man was driving a Toyota Camry north on Route 12 when the vehicle struck Campuzano-Reynoso, authorities said.

The driver, who was not hurt, told police he did not see Campuzano-Reynoso.

Campuzano-Reynoso was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
