‘We will find you’: Police release new images of people wanted over riots

UK

Police in Greater Manchester and Merseyside have released new images of people wanted in connection with the disorder of the last week.

It comes as courts are already sentencing people for taking part in the violence, with jail terms of up to three years handed down so far.

Fears of more than 100 far-right demos faded away on Wednesday night as thousands of anti-racism protesters turned out instead.

Police will be hoping it’s a turning point in the unrest, which began after three girls were stabbed to death in Southport and false rumours spread that the attacker was an asylum seeker.

Meanwhile, a suspended Labour councillor has been arrested after allegedly telling a protest that fascists needed to have their throats cut.

Greater Manchester Police released the following images on Thursday evening of people they want to trace over disorder in Bolton town centre on 4 August.

Merseyside Police also released CCTV pictures of people they want to trace after disorder in Liverpool and Southport.

“To anyone intent on causing disorder here I have one clear message: we will find you, and we will put you before the courts,” warned Merseyside Detective Superintendent Paul Speight.

He said detectives were working through hours of CCTV and camera phone footage.

The force has so far arrested 46 people and charged 17, with seven of those already charged.

Another series of images – including suspects wanted over disorder outside a hotel in Rotherham – were released earlier on Thursday

Anyone who recognises the people in the images is asked to contact the relevant police force, or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
