Woman hit, killed by semi truck on Near West Side, police say

A woman was fatally struck by a semi truck on the city’s Near West Side Tuesday night, according to Chicago police. 

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Roosevelt Road, police said. The semi truck’s driver was traveling northbound on Ashland Avenue when the unidentified woman crossed in front of the truck, police said. 

The Chicago Fire Department transported the woman to Stroger Hospital, where she later died. 

No other injuries were reported, and CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
