CROWN POINT, Ind. — A woman who was reported missing leaving the Lake County Fair Tuesday was found dead in a pond.
Vicki Kirkwood, 55, was last seen leaving the fairgrounds, located near South Court Street and 121st Avenue, at around 1:15 p.m.
She was last seen at around 2 p.m. Kirkwood was visiting the fair with her mother and suffered from dementia.
Her body was recovered at a pond in the Ellendale subdivision, which is by the fairgrounds, in the 900 block of Mary Ellen Drive.
Authorities issued a Silver Alert Tuesday for Kirkwood, which was later canceled.
The circumstances are unknown at this time and an autopsy has not been completed yet.
