After a stretch of high heat and humidity, drier, cooler air has arrived in Chicagoland, with plenty of sunshine.
And it looks like it’ll stay that way for a while.
Tuesday’s rain has moved out of the area, with plenty of sunshine in its place for Wednesday. A steady north/northeast breeze will keep high temperatures in the upper 70s inland and mid-70s along the lake.
Early-morning temperatures Wednesday ranged mostly in the 60s and even upper the 50s in some locations, with low dew points making for a comfortable start to the day.
However, the gusty north/northeast winds reaching up to 25 miles per hour will make swimming conditions in Lake Michigan very dangerous, with waves reaching from 4 to 7 feet. A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for lakeside counties in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana until 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The stretch of dry, cool and mostly sunny weather then looks to continue through a busy summer weekend in Chicagoland and into next week.

TONIGHT: Mild and dry, with mostly clear skies and lows in the mid-60s.
TOMORROW: A bit warmer with a little more cloud cover. Inland highs are expected to reach the lower 80s, while lakeside highs are expected to top out in the mid-70s.
