Authorities responded to reports of a shooting on Friday night.

A woman was shot and killed in Waltham on Friday, the Middlesex District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

Waltham police responded to an apartment building parking lot on Second Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, the statement said. At the scene, they found a woman suffering from an “apparent gunshot wound.”

Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.

Boston 25 News reported a resident of the apartment building heard “fighting in the hallway” and 2 gunshots. 

An investigation into this incident is active, the DA said. The Waltham Police Department said there is no current threat to the public.
