South Congress karaoke lounge may close after decades in business

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Longtime karaoke lounge Ego’s Bar may be closing its doors after 45 years on South Congress Avenue in Austin.

“Alright, Y’all, We’re gonna be real with you. It’s not looking like Ego’s is going to be open much longer,” a social media post began.

The potential closure follows issues with collapsing pipes and the possible demolition of the building Ego’s is located in, the post continued.

On Monday, Ego’s said it would be open through at least the end of August. The Instagram post said the landlord is sending a plumber to help keep them open.
