Simone Biles concluded her Olympic comeback by winning the silver medal in the floor exercise Monday but came up just short of taking home another gold.
Biles delivered an explosive, highly difficult routine in the Paris Games’ floor final but was dinged for stepping out of bounds twice.
Her score of 14.133 was just behind the 14.166 put up by Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who won gold.
Team USA’s Jordan Chiles won the bronze after an inquiry led to her score being changed from 13.666 to 13.766 — jusy enough to put her on the podium.
Earlier Monday, Biles failed to medal in the balance beam final after she fell during her routine. She scored a 13.100, tying her for fifth place with U.S. teammate Suni Lee.
Despite dealing with a nagging calf injury, Biles finished with three gold medals — in the team final, individual all-around and vault — at these Olympics, in addition to the silver.
Widely considered the greatest gymnast of all time, Biles now boasts seven Olympic gold medals and 11 overall, both records for an American in her sport.
Biles’ participation in the Tokyo Olympics three years ago was largely derailed by “the twisties,” a mental condition that left her mind and body out of sync. Biles withdrew from five events at those Olympics — including the team final after the first rotation — before returning to win the bronze in the balance beam final.
Biles’ return to the Olympic stage this summer was touted as the “Redemption Tour.”
