ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. — A man has now been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old girl in Round Lake Beach.
Shorbonia Poole Jr, 19, is charged in the murder of Valeria Rodriguez.
Two weeks ago he was arrested and charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. The additional murder charge was approved Monday.
Rodriguez was shot and killed when a stray bullet flew through her family’s Round Lake Beach home as she ate dinner with her sister on July 24. Rodriguez would have been entering her sophomore year of high school.
Poole Jr. is expected to appear in court on the murder charge Monday afternoon.
