TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A second disturbance has popped up in the Atlantic as Florida braces for Tropical Storm Debby.

The disturbance has a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 20% chance within the next seven days, forecasters warn.

The National Hurricane Center said the tropical wave is several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands and is moving quickly westward at around 20 mph.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Debby is currently westward of Florida and is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane as it approaches the Big Bend.

Officials said the system is expected to make landfall early Monday. Heavy winds and rainfall are expected with the storm, according to the NHC. The lower Florida Keys and Southwest Florida were already being hit with the outer rainbands on Sunday.
