GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers say a woman has been taken into custody — again — after slipping out of her handcuffs, stealing a patrol car and leading police on a chase.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the Michigan State Police said troopers from the Grand Rapids Post responded to a domestic call. MSP did not specify where.

During the course of arrest, a woman started struggling with the trooper and even bit them, according to MSP.

Then, as the trooper was speaking with other people on scene, state police say the woman slipped out of her handcuffs and managed to steal the patrol vehicle, leading police on a chase.

The stolen patrol car ultimately crashed, troopers say. They say the woman was taken into custody again and was transported to the jail, now facing additional charges.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to MSP.

Authorities are investigating.
