Police are investigating an early morning shooting that took place after an alleged crash in South L.A.’s Vermont Square neighborhood.
According to preliminary information, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the intersection of Vermont Avenue and West 53rd Street just before 3 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds and injuries from a traffic collision involving an unknown vehicle.
One of the victims, only identified as a man around 30 years old, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.
The three other victims were transported to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.
Video from the scene – which was still active at 7 a.m. — shows a white SUV with a shattered windshield. Vermont Avenue was shut down at 53rd as officials began their investigation.
No suspect description was immediately available, and no arrests have been made, LAPD said.
It remains unknown if the incident was a drive-by shooting or if it was gang related.
