Scorching temperatures up to 102 degrees are expected along Colorado’s Front Range and Eastern Plains on Sunday, according to a heat advisory from the National Weather Service.
Highs of 100 degrees for Denver, 98 degrees for Boulder, 95 degrees in Castle Rock and 102 degrees in Fort Morgan won’t be cooled by scattered thunderstorms and rain throughout the foothills, NWS forecasters said Sunday morning.

The daily record high for Denver is 98 degrees and last set in 1981, according to the agency.
A heat advisory is in effect for the Front Range until 8 p.m., and people should try to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and limit strenuous activity outside, forecasters said.
State public officials also issued an air quality alert for the Front Range, including Denver, Jefferson, Douglas, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, Weld, western Arapahoe and western Adams counties.
Hot weather and wildfire smoke could create unhealthy air quality in the region, according to the alert.
