Man shot, robbed of bicycle in Chicago's Austin neighborhood

CHICAGO – A man was shot and robbed of his bicycle Saturday afternoon on Chicago’s West Side.

Chicago police said the incident happened just before 4:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Augusta Boulevard in the city’s Austin neighborhood.

The victim, identified as a 43-year-old man, was standing near the sidewalk when another man approached him, pulled out a gun and fired shots, hitting the victim in the leg and buttocks, according to investigators.

Police said the suspect then took the victim’s bicycle and ran off in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

No arrests have been made and Area Four Detectives are investigating.
