CHICAGO — Volunteers with a Rogers Park relief agency were busy on Saturday morning getting students ready for the upcoming school year.
ICNA Relief USA hosted the event at Caldwell Woods, where they marked a major milestone, handing out the one-millionth backpack.
The backpacks, which were handed out to children who might not otherwise have what they would need for school, were filled with supplies.
ICNA Relief serves about 10,000 local families, most of whom are immigrants and refugees, offering a food pantry, shelter, health screenings and more.
WGN’s Judy wang has more on Saturday’s event.
