Suspects in yearlong, $60K shoplifting spree arrested

A man and woman have been arrested by Long Beach police and are believed responsible for more than $59,000 in product being stolen from local businesses.

Keyilah Lacy, 25, of Compton and Andy Pollard, 48, of Wilmington were arrested on July 18 after Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a report of a shoplifting at a business at 71 Aquarium Way.

Officers arrived on scene and detained the two suspects, who were found to be in possession of over $6,700 worth of merchandise. Police then searched the pair’s vehicle and found more stolen merchandise worth at least $8,000.

Detectives have since linked the two to at least 11 shoplifting incidents which took place from July 2023 until their arrest last month. The known crimes happened at three Long Beach shoe stores which were victimized multiple times throughout the crime spree.

Lacy and Pollard both face nine counts of grand theft and one count of organized retail theft. Pollard also allegedly provided a fake ID to an officer and was in possession of a fake check at the time of his arrest, police said.

Lacy was being held on $125,000 bail and Pollard on $625,000 bail, jail records showed. Both were expected to appear in court Friday.

The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department, and investigators believe the pair may be responsible for other thefts across the L.A. area.
