Nascar News: FDNY Racing Responds to Rumors of Corey LaJoie Joining Team

US

NASCAR’s rumor mill was churning with speculation that Corey LaJoie, currently driving for Spire Motorsports, would be joining FDNY Racing for the 2025 season. However, the team quickly dispelled these rumors with a lighthearted post to X (formerly Twitter), posting a GIF of Randy Jackson with the caption, “Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me dawg. Nice try though.”

The rumor, initially reported by Essentially Sports, claimed LaJoie was slated to take the wheel of the No. 28 Chevrolet Silverado, currently driven by Bryan Dauzat. FDNY Racing didn’t hold back on setting the record straight.

Meanwhile, LaJoie’s contract with Spire Motorsports is set to conclude at the end of the 2024 Cup Series season.

“I am super appreciative of where I’m at in life financially with my career. It went way different than I ever expected it. Also, it’s never been easy. My entire NASCAR career has not went how I thought it was going to go. So why would I expect anything different, right? Every single plan that I thought I was going to make, it went differently,” he admitted on Stacking Pennies (below).

He continued:

“The thing that I’ve been kind of clinging on to the last week or so, and we can get into it, there’s just that Proverbs 16:9. It’s been pinned to my X profile for almost 10 years now. ‘The man can plan his path, but the Lord determines his steps.’ I don’t know what the next step is.”

LaJoie’s tenure with Spire Motorsports has experienced its fair share of challenges, this season. Despite a strong performance at Daytona where he finished fourth, LaJoie has regret over not managing to fulfil his potential.

“I do hate that we weren’t able to see it through; we weren’t able to kind of adjust the [No.] 7 team and kind of turn the right knobs to get performance where we needed it. Also, I made too many mistakes behind the wheel this year. There were several that took us out of contention for some good results.”

LaJoie’s future in NASCAR remains a watchful topic for fans and insiders, but at least we know for sure that he won’t be going anywhere near FDNY Racing.

For now, fans may continue to speculate, but the clear road ahead for LaJoie and FDNY Racing is one without each other—at least for the coming season.

The NASCAR Cup Series returns on August 11 at Richmond Raceway.
