Police are searching for a group of vandals on e-bikes responsible for a variety of damage at the Great Park in Irvine recently.
The most recent incident occurred around July 24, when skid marks believed to belong to at least one e-bike were left on the ground in a bathroom that had been vandalized.
Images posted on Instagram by the Irvine Police Department showed a destroyed toilet that the vandals either set a firework in or destroyed with something like a baseball bat.
“The suspects also committed an arson by burning materials in the sink,” the Police Department stated in the post.
Police said that the Bosque area of the Great Park has experienced an increase in vandalism over the past year.
“We’re noticing that there are very distinct tire marks at all of these incidents. Either skid marks or tire marks indicating the e-bikers were present during this activity … so we definitely believe this is tied to e-bikes,” Police Department spokesperson Kyle Oldoerp said.
The e-bikers also damaged areas of grass at the Great Park and the playground safety surfacing.
