Online searches for voter registration highest in Austin: analysis

US

AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s less than 100 days until Election Day, and Texas voters have until Oct. 7 to register to vote.

A new Google Trends analysis shows the Austin metro searched the most for voter registration in the last week when compared to other metros in the country, according to QR Code Generator.

The analysis found the Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco-Temple-Bryan metros ranked in the top 10 for voter registration searches between July 23 and July 30.

Texas ranked as the fourth region with the most voter registration searches, following Georgia, the District of Columbia and North Carolina.

The analysis used Google Trends data on state and metro levels for the search “register to vote” and the voter registration topic. The search interest was calculated based on each metro or state’s percentage of searches of all topic searches to the area with the highest percentage of searches for a topic.

Travis County voters can learn more about voter registration online and check if they are already registered to vote online.

Early voting begins Oct. 21. Election Day is Nov. 5.
