Man dies after police shooting in south Littleton neighborhood

A man was fatally shot by police Monday night after exiting his home with a weapon and approaching officers, according to the Littleton Police Department.

Police responded to a call about a possible suicide in progress near West Kettle Avenue and South Datura Circle around 5:47 p.m., department officials said in a post on X.

Officers were “confronted” by a man in his 50s after he exited his home and approached them with a weapon, according to Littleton police. The man was shot by police and taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The 18th Judicial Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting.
