Pair of triple shootings leaves one dead in North Lawndale, police say

CHICAGO — One person is dead following a triple shooting Monday night in Chicago’s North Lawndale, police said.  

A 37-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene in the 4100 block of W. Cermak Rd. Police said the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head.  

According to Chicago police, three males were near the backyard of a home when at least one person with a gun fired shots around 3 p.m.  

In addition to the slain 37-year-old, police say paramedics transported two men, ages 34 and 26, to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.  

Less than three hours later, another triple shooting occurred in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

According to police, around 6:40 p.m., a 31-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and a 15-year-old boy were standing near the street in the 1200 block of S. Lawndale Ave., when someone from within an approaching vehicle opened fire.  

All three shooting victims were struck but said to be in good condition en route to Mt. Sinai Hospital.  

There are no offenders in custody in either shooting.
