C.J. Stroud a popular 2024 NFL MVP pick among sports bettors

US

Bettors are hammering C.J. Stroud to be the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2024.

A little more than a month away from the season, the Texans quarterback is the most bet player to win the award at DraftKings Sportsbook, the sportsbook’s CEO Jason Robbins wrote on X last week

The second-year signal-caller has the second-best odds (+850) to be the league’s next MVP at DraftKings behind Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is a heavy +475 favorite.

Stroud has shot up the odds board over the summer as bettors got bullish on his potential in the coming season.

He’s leapfrogged six fellow quarterbacks — Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy and Justin Herbert — over the past few months to take second-favorite status after opening at +1400.

Stroud is looking to build on a historic rookie season in which he threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns with just five interceptions, leading the Texans to an AFC South title and a divisional round appearance.

The Texans have since bolstered their already-strong skill positions on the offensive side of the ball, bringing in wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon, who’ll pair with Stroud and receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell to form one of the top offenses in the league.

Oddsmakers are also optimistic about Houston’s playoff and Super Bowl chances this season.

The Texans are currently -192 at FanDuel Sportsbook to make the playoffs, which are the ninth-best odds in football, with a 9.5-win total over/under.

They are also a strong +105 favorite to win the AFC South for the second straight year.

Stroud and Co. are tied with the Bengals at +1500 for the sixth-best odds to win the Super Bowl.
