To the applause of more than 400 “Jeopardy!” fans, the U.S. Postal Service unveiled on Monday, July 22, a new Forever stamp — honoring the quiz show’s well-known and respected former host, the late Alex Trebek.
Trebek became a familiar presence in millions of homes over the course of his 37 seasons as the host of “Jeopardy!” He died at age 80 on November 8, 2020.
“The show was a labor of love for him,” said Trebek’s wife, Jean Trebek. “He found great pleasure in the fact that the contestants were the true star of the show, and he loved getting to know his audience.”

The popular quiz show originally debuted in 1964, and fans are marking its “60th Diamond Celebration” with events throughout this year. “Jeopardy!” garners a weekly audience of more than 20 million viewers, making it the top-rated quiz show on TV, according to Sony Pictures Television.
“It is an honor to be standing here today, as it always is, to try to fill some pretty large shoes,” said Ken Jennings, Trebek’s successor as the show’s host. “I’ve always been in awe of him as a broadcaster.”
The USPS has created a “pane” of 20 identical stamps arranged together to look like the video monitors that form the “Jeopardy!” game board on TV. Each stamp reads, in the quiz show’s recognizable format, “This naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the quiz show ‘Jeopardy!’ for 37 seasons,” with the response, “Who is Alex Trebek?”
The pane itself includes category headers such as “entertainment” and “game show hosts” and a photograph of Trebek with part of the quiz show’s set behind him.
The stamps are available to purchase online through USPS.
