Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after ‘chaotic’ attack by pack of dogs

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a pack of dogs in North Portland on Monday morning, Portland police said.

Just after 8 a.m., officers responded to a medical call near an encampment at North Columbia Boulevard and North Upland Drive, saying it was a “chaotic scene.”

On arrival, they found a pack of dogs had attacked a woman. While the woman was being attacked, two other people tried to intervene and were injured by the dogs as well, officials said.

The woman was taken to the hospital while one of the bystanders was also hospitalized with serious injuries, officials said. The other bystander only suffered minor injuries.

Multnomah County Animal Control then responded to the scene and took possession of the eight dogs believed to have been involved in the incident. They are now being held by the agency pending further investigation by PPB and Multnomah County Animal Control.

No further information, including the identity of the victim, has been released at this time.
