CHICAGO — A Chicago man is accused of killing a woman found shot to death inside a home in the city’s North Lawndale neighborhood.
A first-degree murder charge against 39-year-old Kevin Scott stems from a fatal shooting on Thursday, May 9, in the 14000 block of S. St. Louis.
Responding officers located a 27-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her body in the kitchen of a residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Tetorsha T. Williams.
Police arrested Scott on Thursday, July 18. He is due to appear in court on Saturday.
Family of slain mother had hoped for justice
Days shy of the one-month anniversary of the fatal shooting, Williams’ family spoke to WGN News, describing her as the “sweetest person on Earth.”
Williams left behind a young son named Khristian.
“He understands that mommy in his Heaven,” Williams’ mother, Trinetta McClure, told WGN News on Friday, June 7. “But he is like, ‘Why mommy?'”
Loved ones had long suspected Scott in the death of Williams. A GoFundMe created for Williams raised nearly $2,000.
