MISSOURI CITY, Texas (KTRK) — Eyewitness News awaits official word from law enforcement about what led to an apparent wreck between a Missouri City Police Department SUV and two other vehicles on Thursday evening.

An ABC13 crew responded to reports of a crash at the Meadow Creek and Cartwright Road intersection.

The patrol vehicle, with front-end damage, had its airbag while at rest on a sidewalk. Meanwhile, a white SUV had its side airbags deployed with similar front-end damage and stopped across lanes of traffic. A gray sedan was also at the scene.

Missouri City police closed off the intersection as officers investigated. Police have yet to confirm what took place or whether any injuries or deaths occurred.

The crash comes days after a lawsuit was filed against the police department for a separate incident involving one of its officers last month.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 27-year-old Officer Blademir Viveros did not have his emergency lights when he was involved in a chase that resulted in a deadly crash.

Missouri City PD said a mother and teenage son failed to yield the right of way before being fatally hit by the police car. Investigators said Viveros had a man in the backseat of his cruiser, who then became paralyzed due to the crash and sued the police department on Tuesday.
