The region’s largest transit agency says its bus and train services will be delayed Friday morning as its website and internal systems are being impacted by a global computer system issue.

In a statement posted on X, WMATA said its teams are working to address this issue and rides should be prepared for delays.

The Metrorail usually start running at 5 a.m. on weekdays but trains are indefinitely delayed due to the computer system issue. Bus times may also be delayed.

The MetroAccess call center is also down, but the transportation agency says customers that made accessibility reservations in advance will still be contacted if their trip is affected.

A widespread Microsoft outage is disrupting flights, banks, media outlets and companies around the world on Friday. The escalating issues are continuing hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.
