Khloé Kardashian has no interest in going to therapy, no matter who recommends it.

In the Thursday, July 18 episode of Hulu‘s The Kardashians, the mother-of-two explains her distaste for therapy, and it has everything to do with poor experiences in the past. Kim Kardashian, 43, was the first person in the episode to suggest Khloé look into therapy, because she is currently doing it, and thinks her sister should “also be on this journey” with her.

Then, while the pair were enjoying lunch, Khloé’s longtime friend Malika Haqq, 41, brought up the idea as well. They were talking about Khloé’s 40th birthday, which had not yet happened at the time of filming, and Haqq wanted to find a “really big” way for them to celebrate.

“Should we do an Eat Pray Love for your birthday?” Haqq asked, referring to the popular book by Elizabeth Gilbert, about her soul-searching journey at 33 through Italy, India, and Bali. It was later turned into a 2010 film starring Julia Roberts.

The Good American founder immediately shot down that idea, calling it a “disaster,” while Haqq reasoned, “It’s indirect therapy. It’s like the kind of therapy you want to do.” Khloé asked if her friend thought she needed therapy, to which she replied, “A hundred percent.” The answer seemed to surprise Khloé, who shared how Kim had recently made a similar suggestion.

“I’ve done therapy,” Khloé said, insisting she had tried “three or four” different therapists in the past, including before the birth of her second child (via surrogate). “I’ve never connected,” she explained, noting that despite pouring out her heart to them, she “never got any guidance.” Haqq suggested she just hadn’t found the right therapist, but Khloé said that has been her experience with every therapist thus far.

The youngest Kardashian sister has dealt with personal tragedies, like the death of her father in 2003, her ex-husband Lamar Odom’s cheating and near-fatal overdose in 2015, and ex Tristan Thompson’s cheating scandals in 2018, 2019, and 2021 — including one in which he fathered a child, son Theo, while still in a relationship with the Hulu star.

Khloé said that because she doesn’t get visibly upset when speaking about her trauma, therapists have told her that she doesn’t need their help.

According to Khloé, one counselor told her, “I don’t really think you need me,” which made her think, “Is she firing me? I think I got broken up with by a therapist.” She later explained in a confessional, “I’m sure I need therapy. I just don’t think I’m struggling.” Haqq, however, pointed out that the reality star has “gone through several traumatic events” and needs “someone to tell you how to see your way out.”

Khloé continued to try to shrug it off, saying she doesn’t have time to talk to a bunch of different therapists until she finds the right one. However, like Kim, Haqq was not backing off, quipping, “Make the time.”

Khloé shares daughter True, 6, and son Tatum, 1, with ex Thompson. She was previously married to former NBA player Odom from 2009 to 2016.
