‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Accuses Trump Campaign Of Using His Granddaughter To “Humanize” Him: “Don’t Fall For That!”

US

Whoopi Goldberg isn’t buying Donald Trump‘s attempts to “humanize” himself. On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime moderator hit back at the former president for having his 17-year-old granddaughter sing his praises at the Republican National Convention.

Kai Trump took to the stage Wednesday night (June 17) to shed light on her “normal grandpa.”

“He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking, he always wants to know how we’re doing in school. When I made the high honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me,” she said during her speech. “He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask how my golf game is going, and tells me all about his. But then I have to remind him that I’m in school and I’ll have to call him back later.”

Kai praised her grandfather as “caring and loving,” all while blaming the media for making him seem like “a different person.”

However, Goldberg warned viewers not to take Kai’s words to heart.

“I have a lot of faith in the American people. And I don’t know very many men who want to be talked to the way that this man has been talking to men in his audience,” she said, referring to the Republican nominee. “I don’t know any women — and I know his grandchild was up on the thing and they’re trying to humanize him and change your idea about who this guy is.”

Goldberg passionately declared, “Don’t fall for that!”

The EGOT recipient also laid into high-profile Democrats for calling on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race.

“He was my nominee. Everybody said you can’t change a nominee. You can’t take you know who off the ballot because he’s the chosen nominee,” she said. “I feel the same way. And how dare you make this decision for me.”

She added, “If you want to know what I think as a Democrat, somebody should ask us as opposed to telling us what they’re gonna do.”

Goldberg said she would only consider changing her mind about Biden’s capability to be POTUS again if he “falls low” at his next debate against Trump.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
