Joe Rogan’s Trump Assassination Attempt Remarks Go Viral

US

Joe Rogan has gone viral for expressing his disbelief about the assassination attempt made against Donald Trump, saying it was “bananas” and that it “feels like a Black Mirror episode.”

The attempt was made on Saturday afternoon when Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was speaking at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. After shots were fired, the former president was seen grabbing his right ear as security agents flocked to protect him. The suspected gunman, now identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was shot and killed by the Secret Service.

During Rogan’s Wednesday episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host discussed how bizarre he found the events that transpired with stand-up comic Chad Daniels.

The X account (formerly Twitter) @DramaAlert shared a snippet of their discussion with the caption: “Joe Rogan questions Donald Trump’s assassination attempts… He raises a few red flags regarding how things played out.” At the time of writing, the post had been viewed 412,700 times. The episode on YouTube has been viewed 422,010 times.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Trump for comment on Thursday.

“The whole thing’s nuts, the whole, the whole, thing stinks of either incompetence or a design or we’re in the Matrix. Like this is a f****** fake movie. To watch the most bombastic and uh manly of presidents—you know, the for a lack of a better term to—see him with these two female bumbling Secret Service agents,” Rogan said incredulously.

He continued: “To see everything happened the way—to see that [the Secret Service] knew this guy was on the roof, that, to hear that that guy had pointed his rifle before that at a cop so the cop engaged him, he pointed the rifle and the cop ran away. The guy climbed the roof with a ladder you can see the ladder, the whole thing is bananas.

“He’s 20 years old and then you find out he was in a Black Rock commercial? You’re like, am I, is this the Black Mirror? Like, tell me what’s going on is this real?”

Black Mirror is a sci-fi anthology series on Netflix that explores the dark side of human nature while being set in an abstrusely dystopian future. People often refer to it when something in the real world feels unbelievable or horrifying.

Rogan went on to say that if the events that took place on Saturday were in a movie, he wouldn’t believe them.

“20? 20 years old? And he’s got this, this idea and he pulls it off? He actually gets a shot off and nicks [Trump] and then they kill him? Like, you’re seeing this 20-year-old kid, his life is over, like, somehow or another he talked himself into trying to assassinate the president as a lone gunman in Pennsylvania, got on top of a roof, either through sheer incompetence or some other—for some other reason he actually gets a shot off and the president just moves his head at the right time?” Rogan asked.

“Like the whole thing is—if it was in a movie I’d be like ‘Shut the f*** up.'”

Daniels added: “That’ll make you believe in God.”

Rogan then questioned whether God wanted Trump here to expose “how crazy our political system is really.”

“The only way we find out how coordinated everything is, whether you’re a Trump fan or not, whether, if, if you hate Trump, put that aside for a second and just look at how much coordination there is in the media to go after him and it exposes like this, this, thing where you have to step back and go, ‘Wait a minute hold on a second, what what’s really going on?'” Rogan continued.

“Like what—whether you hate that guy or not, hate him, hate him, think he’s a crook, hate him, think he’s a liar, hate him, don’t you think it’s weird that they’re all in lockstep with the way they talk about him? Even with things that aren’t true?”
