Woman Loses Friend at Club, Spots Her on CCTV Doing Something Unexpected

A night out dancing turned into an unlikely healing session for a pair of friends and a security guard.

A video posted by Kaela Van Pelt (@kaela.grace) has gone viral for revealing what happened after she lost her friend, Keri Kicken, at the club: She found her on the security cameras performing reiki healing on a security guard.

The pair of friends, both 28, and the guard, William Monestime, spoke to Newsweek about the chance encounter and how it’s lead to lasting friendship.

“Keri and I have always had the tendency to complete side missions during our nights out,” Van Pelt said. “Believe it or not, this interaction did not surprise me whatsoever. I burst out into laughter when I saw her on the security footage.”

Kicken said that she was looking for Van Pelt in the club, too, when she locked eyes with the security guard in the entry area.

“[I] immediately started receiving messages from his guides,” she said. “One of the blockages that I picked up on was an inherited throat-chakra blockage. This is what ultimately prompted the impromptu club reiki sesh.”

The Reiki session prompted Monestime to release this “blockage.” After the session, Kicken took Monestime’s vape and threw it away. Surprisingly, this did not upset him.

“He was shocked to admit that he did not experience any agitation when I took his vape and threw it away in front of him,” Kicken said. “In fact, he said that he felt no desire to vape at all. This struck him as unusual because he had previously had many failed attempts to quit.”

Monestime himself said the interaction was profound and that he was “impressed” with the things Kicken spoke about.

“It led to the small Reiki ceremony, and I’ve been good ever since then,” he told Newsweek.

“Needless to say, [Monestime] was extremely caught off-guard…by the accuracy of the messages and the intensity of the energy coming off of my hands—especially given that I was a total stranger,” Kicken said, adding that she gave Monestime a crystal for protection as they parted—something she had thrown in her handbag to bring to the club without knowing why.

“Following this whole interaction, I knew immediately that I had brought it for him,” she said.

The two swapped phone numbers. On the third day after they met, Kicken said Monestime sent her a message saying he had tried to puff on a vape, and his body “physically rejected it.”

The virality of the video has been a surprise for Monestime, who didn’t even know the video had gone online until later.

“People started to come up to me at work, from employees to guests, [to] show me the video that was posted to TikTok. It was amazing how [many] people that it reached. We started to get messages from across the board,” he said. “This is all new to me. But it was fun. Keri is awesome.”

‘The start of a friendship’

Van Pelt said Kicken has always been an “empath,” and she wasn’t surprised to see her healing impulses go far and wide.

“She is by far the most genuine person I know,” Van Pelt said. “She had no idea she was being recorded, so the video really showcased her healing and nurturing energy as well as the hilarious nature of our lives together.”

The pair of friends intend to start a podcast in August about their life in Miami and encounters with spirituality.

Meanwhile, Monestime and the friends continue to stay in touch: “We have all stayed in touch since that night, and it certainly began the start of a friendship,” Kicken said, adding that she is entering a new chapter of her life, serendipitously aligned with the success of the video.

“I recently left my career in finance to fully embrace building a business around my abilities as a psychic medium and energy healer,” she said.

With these endeavors on the horizon, it’s clear the friends’ chance encounters, energy work and side quests are far from over.
