Water search underway in Kankakee River for 6-year-old boy – NBC Chicago

A water search is underway for a 6-year-old boy who fell off a dock into the Kankakee River in Kankakee County, officials said.

According to Kankakee mayor Chris Curtis, the boy fell off a dock at 1600 Cobb Boulevard at approximately 3:08 p.m., with rescue efforts beginning shortly afterwards.

Footage captured by NBC Chicago’s Sky5 helicopter showed nearby rescue efforts, with multiple boats seen in the portion of the river located just west of I-57.

In addition to the rescue efforts in the water, a large staging area with first responders of numerous agencies was seen just on the other side of the dock.

There is currently no further information available.
