A 5-year-old boy died Sunday morning in the Bronx after police found him unconscious and unresponsive in his home, officials said.

Police officers were called to an apartment on Bassford Avenue and East 183rd Street in Tremont at around 3:30 a.m., and found 5-year-old Deneil Timberlake showing signs of distress.

First responders rushed him to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital, where Timberlake was pronounced dead.

Police said he showed no visible trauma and could not immediately say who called 911, or whether his parents were home at the time.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was working to determine Timberlake’s cause of death, officials said.

Police made no immediate arrests.
