Rep. Ronny Jackson details nephew’s injury at Trump rally

MILWAUKEE (NEXSTAR) – Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) said his nephew suffered a minor injury after “a bullet or a fragment of a bullet or something grazed his neck” during former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“He didn’t notice it right away but someone else in the crowd did, took him to the medical tent and he was okay. He’s fine. It was a very minor injury not a big deal,” Rep. Jackson told Nexstar at the Republican National Convention on Monday.

The Republican lawmaker said his nephew was sitting in the friends and family section when shots rang out.

“It was a horrible, horrible event that we hope never ever happens again, right but I think that the positive thing that came out of it was the whole world got to see President Trump, how he handled it,” Rep. Jackson said.

Rep. Jackson told Nexstar that Trump had the “spirit of a warrior,” describing the moments after the shooting when the former president stood up with blood on his face and pumped his fist in the air.

“The whole world saw that, and a lot of people that weren’t inclined to vote for him are now saying ‘you know what that man is an absolute warrior,’” Rep. Jackson said.

Rep. Jackson is scheduled to speak at the RNC on Wednesday. He said his speech will focus on national security issues.
