AUSTIN (KXAN) — A July 3 homicide is now being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, the Austin Police Department said in a Monday update.

Officers responded to a stabbing call in the 4400 block of Airport Boulevard just after 10 a.m. on July 3. The caller said two people were dead, and Austin-Travis County EMS discovered the body of a woman inside the residence after arriving at the scene.

Police identified the woman as Iris Hernandez-Perdomo, 33. A man — later identified as Wilfredo Chavez-Chincilla, 40 — was also found dead at the scene.

In Monday’s update, APD officials said the investigation had revealed Chavez-Chincilla had stabbed his wife, Hernandez-Perdomo, before fatally stabbing himself.

Anyone with information surrounding the case is asked to contact APD by calling 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be shared anonymously online or by calling 512-472-8477.
