ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A wanted man was arrested after police say he fell through an apartment ceiling in Elmira, New York while hiding from police.

According to the Elmira Police Department, officers were called to an apartment building at about 6:26 p.m. on July 12 for a report of a wanted person, George Wilson.

Officers surrounded the building and tried to make contact with Wilson. But shortly after the officers arrived, one of the building’s tenants went outside and told them that Wilson had fallen into their apartment from the attic.

Police secured the apartment Wilson reportedly fell into and kept calling for Wilson to come out from his hiding place. A K9 Unit from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office found Wilson after a brief search, and he was arrested without further incident.

Wilson was wanted for three felony charges: third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell), second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was also wanted on another warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a misdemeanor).

Wilson was arrested and is currently being held at the Chemung County Jail on the Chemung County Court warrant.
