Study: Wrigley Field leads MLB with priciest parking rates

US

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs are the priciest team in Major League Baseball when it comes to paying for parking ahead of their games at Wrigley Field, a new study recently found.

According to FlashPicks, a sports betting news and analytics website, Wrigley Field ($85) is by and far the most expensive stadium to find parking around in MLB, costing on average more than double the amount it costs to park at the second-most expensive ballpark, the New York Mets’ Citi Field ($40).

Rounding out the top five after Wrigley and Citi Fields are Yankee Stadium ($35) in New York, Dodgers Stadium ($30) in Los Angeles, and Oakland Alameda County Coliseum ($30) in Oakland, California.

Compared to their South Side counterparts, it’s $58 cheaper to find parking for a Chicago White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field, where the average baseball fan can expect to pay around $27 for parking.

On the opposite end of the parking spectrum is the Houston Astros’ Minute Maid Park, which costs on average $10 for parking before games, and is the cheapest stadium in MLB to park at.

Commenting on the study, Callum Broxton, Head of Operations at FlashPicks said: “With the MLB season now past the halfway point, fans will be well accustomed to their game day rituals, which involves many driving to the stadium with their family and friends.

“Our study goes to show the disparity in prices of Major League Baseball parking lots, and how over the course of the season, some MLB fans will be forking out a lot more money than others to park their car on gameday.”

The information was collected as a part of a research study conducted by FlashPicks to find the most hated stadium in MLB. All 30 official MLB stadiums were ranked against ten different factors.

Those factors included the price of beer and food, parking lot prices, traffic densities and even the MLB team’s home record to determine the most hated stadium in the MLB.

Here’s a graph breaking down the top 10 MLB ballparks with the most expensive prices for parking, according to FlashPicks:
